Saint Paul, Minnesota
With 16 years of experience competing in pageantry, Courtney has held numerous state titles and national placements throughout her years as a competitor. As Ms. Minnesota, she is continuing to serve as an ambassador for women in her state and hopefully around the world. A Minnesota State University, Mankato alumna, Courtney graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Public Relations while minoring in Communication Studies and Leisure Planning Management. During her time at MSU, she was heavily involved in Greek Life and served in many leadership positions which contributed to her success today. Let’s take a look at Ms. Minnesota’s journey to the crown.
Courtney aims to inspire others as a first-generation Nigerian-American by diversifying her initiatives with the Ms. Minnesota title. Her platform: Destination Diploma, focuses on the access and success of underrepresented students in higher education and beyond. With her role in HR at a Fortune 500 company, Courtney also advises young people on how to be competitive and successful in the career exploration process and in the workplace. As a product of the public school system and an underrepresented student herself, it is important for her to elevate young people like the way leaders did during her high school and college years. Courtney has spoken to students all across the Twin Cities community about how to navigate the collegiate experience, what resources to take advantage of to help them succeed, and shares her story of success as a student underperforming in high school to graduating with honors in college. She has spoken to college readiness programs including Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID), and the Upward Bound/TRIO programs to name a few. She enjoys spending her free time traveling to new places and focusing on diversity and inclusion within the workplace. Courtney also volunteers her time with Alpha Chi Omega Sorority as a Recruitment Specialist for chapters in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.
