Serving your Country by Helping your Community: Volunteerism/Veterans
Taiesa Lashley was crowned Ms. Black International Ambassador in August of 2019. Born and raised in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands Taiesa has had a passion for community service since she was a child. Taiesa is no stranger to pageantry as she has also held the prestigious titles of Miss US Virgin Islands World and Miss US Virgin Islands Intercontinental. She also founded her very own not for profit organization: Virgin Islands Pageantry. An organization that is dedicated to recognizing VI royalty, coordinating service projects while promoting the wonders of USVI.
Taiesa is a proud graduate of Johnson & Wales University in North Miami where her passion for service, coordination skills, and leadership abilities truly flourished. By the end of her college career Taiesa walked away with multiple awards including Organizations of the Year, Community Service and Student Leadership Awards. She graduated with a B.S. in Hospitality Management.
Taiesa is also a proud a veteran in the United States Army Reserve. She enlisted in the US Army reserve 2 weeks prior to her graduation from college and was deployed to Afghanistan as a Civil Affairs Specialist. She completed a combat tour in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan in 2011 with the 478th Civil Affairs Battalion. These two aspects of her life helped her develop her initiative: “Serving Your Country by Helping Your Community”. A platform that she plans to continue to champion as Ms. Black International Ambassador. Taiesa’s dedication to service and education is also visible through her work with many local organizations, her sorority Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. and Disney VoluntEars.
Taiesa now resides in Orlando, Florida and established a successful career at Walt Disney World. Working her way up within a couple of years she managed to achieve her first goal: becoming a Catering Guest Services Manager. Since establishing her career at Walt Disney World. Taiesa has been featured in countless national magazines and blogs for her military and professional accomplishments and even had the honor of meeting the former First Lady of the United State --Michelle Obama. A lover of fashion, Taiesa has also recently opened up her own online accessory boutique: C.H.I.C Lifestyle Collection; a collection of accessories for the Classy, Haute, Influential and Courageous individual.
An advocate, philanthropist, a global leader, and an agent of change, Taiesa Lashley is a role model to women across the world. From volunteering on the frontlines to serving as the face to numerous organizations for veterans, the Ms Black International Ambassador is relevant and ready to make a difference with like-minded entities and organizations.
